3 Things To Think About For Your Hopes and Dreams

amyjraber

I’m currently in the process of redesigning my business and while this is super exciting, it’s also super frustrating. I’m the type of person that when I set my mind to something I want it to happen… RIGHT NOW!

Now, I’m not saying there is anything wrong with this mindset BUT there can be if you don’t keep your focus on the following things.

1.Kingdom Work

Working toward a crazy goal is exciting…the crazier the better for me! Which means that I often lose myself in these goals, giving it everything I’ve got until finally I’ve accomplished what I’ve set out to do.

Currently these goals are running a marathon and like I mentioned above my business redesign. And while these are great goals they won’t matter at the end of my life. What I’ve done for Gods kingdom is what will truly matter.

Now I’m not saying that jobs and hobbies can’t be kingdom work. I fully believe they can be if done in the right way. When I chase after my dreams as a means to find happiness, success or fulfillment that’s when it becomes self kingdom work. And let’s be honest, those thoughts sneak in all the time which is why I have to choose to die to myself, literally, minute by minute, day in and day out!

2.Your Will Your Way

I have to remember God’s will above all else! If my dreams for my business happen then that’s great! But if not then that’s great too! God says:

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19:21

He also says: “’For I know the plans I have for you’, declares the Lord ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

These verses are so encouraging because it reminds me that God has something greater in store for me if my plans don’t work out! My human mind thinks that what I envision and dream up is the best possible thing for me, but I can’t see the future or comprehend what God sees for me so I have to trust and believe what he said is true.

Which leads me to my final point.

 3.Trust Him

When I stress and try to do it in my own strength I am taking trust and faith away. Not stressing, handing it ALL to God, and resting in his blessings and goodness is telling God “I trust you!”

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. The Lord works out everything to its proper end—even the wicked for a day of disaster.” Proverbs 16: 3-4
