This was such a fun party to plan! I decided not to spend too much money and instead use a lot of stuff I already had on hand. It helps that his room is decorated in an adventure/mountain theme.
All I ended up having to buy was the food and plates. Since I wasn’t really buying much else I carefully planned out what the plates would look like. I decided on black, square, modern style plates…we were having chili…once again I carefully planned this party out 😉
Needless to say we ended up eating chili out of red solo cups…pairing perfectly with the modern theme…
Cake Smash Chocolate Cake
Woodland Cake
I had the most fun putting together the cakes and was so happy with how they turned out.

Like I mentioned, a lot of the decorations actually came from Axel’s room. The teepee cover, tablecloth and camp Axel sign are all painters cloth. I had a HUGE bundle left over from my baby shower…SCORE!
The chili bar went so great with the theme…besides the red solo cups…you can see them peeping in the back.
So how did the happy camper enjoy his party?
Well once again I planned out the party carefully. He doesn’t typically do morning naps anymore, but the morning of the party of course he did, on the way to church he fell asleep. On the way home I decided to try and keep him awake. We get home around 1 on a normal Sunday so in my careful planning I thought we could come home, give him lunch, put him down for a nap, and he would sleep until the party started.
Well, do you think he took that VERY important nap on this VERY important day…NO!
So as luck would have it, he was falling asleep as soon as guests started arriving at 4pm. He ended up eating, having his cake smash, getting hosed down from the cake mess, and was asleep before gifts. Check out that big yawn below!
All in all the happy camper had a great time, especially during cake smash time. And mom, well mom knows now to just go with the flow more…something I’ve been working on for what seems like a lifetime 😉
