I want you to know God doesn’t hide himself from you. This used to be difficult for me to believe. Until the Holy Spirit revealed it to me in this way.
There was a day this year where I was driving by myself for 4 ½-5 hours. I talked to God during this entire time and have literally never heard him more clearly. It was like he was talking to me the entire time too. That day I was focused entirely on him and had no distractions.
So, looking back on that, if I feel he hides himself from me, maybe I have too many distractions around me.
He talks to his children daily in subtle ways. That day I didn’t hear an audible voice, it was almost like a knowing of his truths and what he was saying to me, and what his truths were about the situations I was bringing before him.
If you are a parent could you imagine going through a whole day without speaking to your child? How much more do you think your heavenly perfect Father, creator of you and everything around you, speaks to you on a daily basis?
Maybe our view of how he should communicate with us is all wrong?
If God talked to us blatantly and obviously, like a person literally in the flesh, audibly, walking and talking to us all day, every day, like we think he should, we wouldn’t need to seek him as much, spend time alone with him and his word, spend time praying, or practicing other spiritual disciplines. He would be audibly and continually speaking to us every day so we wouldn’t need to do those things to hear from him or to get guidance from him.
Now I’m not saying there aren’t times when God speaks audibly, but most of the time he is speaking through his word, during your prayer time, during your time alone with him, during worship time, through songs. Because he wants his children devoted to him, putting distractions away and seeking after him alone.
“So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always.” Philippians 4:8 TPT
If he would audibly speak to us every second of every day
We wouldn’t need faith, because faith is believing in something you can’t see.
“Now faith brings our hopes into reality and becomes the foundation needed to acquire the things we long for. It is all the evidence required to prove what is unseen.” Hebrews 11:1
We wouldn’t be devoted to only God, because there would be no time commitment on our part to seek after him. There would be no sacrifice to put away our distractions to hear from him.
“Christ’s resurrection is your resurrection too. This is why we are to yearn for all that is above, for that’s where Christ sits enthroned at the place of all power, honor, and authority! Yes, feast on all the treasures of the heavenly realm and fill your thoughts with heavenly realities, and not with the distractions of the natural realm.” Colossians 3:1-2 TPT
We wouldn’t be here on earth, we would be in heaven, because this is a picture of what it looks like when we are in heaven. God will walk with us, audibly speaking to us every day, and we will get to see him and continually sit in his presence.
“And every curse will be broken and no longer exist, for the throne of God and of the Lamb will be there in the city. His loving servants will serve him, they will see constantly his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. Night will be no more. They will never need the light of the sun or a lamp, because the Lord God will shine on them. And they will reign as kings forever and ever!” Revelation 22:3-5
The spiritual disciplines we use to hear from God, to communicate with him, and to develop a more intimate relationship with him, help us to have faith, and help us to stay devoted to God above all else and above every other distraction competing for our attention.
So continue to draw near to God, because when you do, he draws near to you. He is drawn to your heart towards him.
“Move your heart closer and closer to God, and he will come even closer to you.” James 4:8 TPT
Earnestly, sincerely, seriously, and passionately seek God, and he will reward you.
“And without faith living within us it would be impossible to please God. For we come to God in faith knowing that he is real and that he rewards the faith of those who passionately seek him.” Hebrews 11:6 TPT
Live in a way where you are in total communion, companionship, and relationship every second of every day, understanding his voice, even when it’s not audible, and fully live the extraordinary life he planned for you long ago!
He is saying to you, “Keep coming! I have so much more for you!”
So join me in sprinting with and to our Father, hearing him as he speaks and having a much deeper relationship then you ever dreamed possible.
“So above all, constantly chase after the realm of God’s kingdom and the righteousness that proceeds from him. Then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly.” Matthew 6:33 TPT
