God wants to bless you! Have you ever thought about that, or is this something that is hard for you to believe?
Honesty, it’s something I have to keep reminding myself of.
When we are committed to God and seeking after him, he will bless us.
“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4
If you have kids think about how much you want to be able to give them their desires, take care of them, and love them. How much more do you think our heavenly Father wants to do these things for us?
How does God bless us?
Our purpose in life is to know Jesus and make him known. So when God blesses us he typically does so to bring himself glory.
We have each been given a dream, passion, or something we’re good at for a reason. Let’s bring glory to God with these dreams, passions, and talents.
“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.” Colossians 3:23
“God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.” 1 Peter 4:10
What is God capable of?
You may still be thinking that all of this sounds great, but there’s no way you will be able to make your dream a reality. If this is you, I have good news!
You can’t accomplish your dream on your own. When it’s a God-sized dream only he can accomplish it.
I heard something recently in my Sunday school class that I thought was awesome.
If we accept Genesis 1:1 to be true (that God created the heavens and the earth), then it’s also true that the God who created the heavens and the earth can do anything inside of that creation.
This then means that nothing is impossible, not even your crazy, big, God-sized dream, which seems untouchable at the moment.
When I was searching for a good bible verse that talks about God working in the impossible I was shocked at the amount of verses on this topic.
I’m going to leave a link for you to read through these verses because I think you will be as encouraged as I was when I read through them. Click here to read how absolutely nothing is impossible with God!
Let’s Get Practical- Steps on How to Dream God-sized Dreams
1. Write out that dream that’s been on your heart.
It’s there for a reason, write it down and submit it to God.
2. Pray and release your dream to God.
Ultimately it’s up to God to bring this dream to reality and into the plan he has for your life.
3. Ask yourself why you want to accomplish this dream.
Be honest here and do a heart search. If your why aligns with God’s vision/purpose for your life (to know Jesus and make him known) I believe you’re on the right track.
Let’s take building a dream home as an example. If your why is to have the biggest house on the block, I’m not entirely sure that’s aligned with God’s vision.
However, if your why is to have the ability to host others in your home, to bless them either with good food, good conversation, or just a cup of coffee, I believe that is aligned with God’s vision.
So maybe a more important question to ask is
“Is my identity wrapped into my dream or into who God says I am?”
4. Dare to dream bigger.
If your why aligns with God’s vision then take that initial dream a step farther and believe God for an impossible God-sized dream. Here are some examples: Dream God-Sized DreamWrite a book Write a bestsellerStart a businessWidely known & recognized businessLose weightGet to goal/dream weight
Don’t let fear stop you from letting God accomplish what he wants to, when you surrender your dreams to him you will see these dreams grow to more than you could have ever expected or imagined.
“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” Ephesians 3:20
