We can’t choose to love or accept people when they become who we want them to become. I know there are some people in our lives that we wish would just act like, or do x,y,z. Then we think we can love them and be around them. But that’s not what God has called us to, we are called to love them right where they are regardless of who they are, or the pain and hurt they have caused.
When we walk fully in freedom of forgiveness, love, acceptance, etc. we can fully be everything God has created us to be and fully do everything God has created us to do. Why let 5-10 years of your life go by without you fully walking in freedom when you can do that right now?!
I understand some things take time because we are human after all BUT if we realize that Jesus has given us ALL that full freedom and it’s available today, then why wouldn’t we want to fully walk in that right now?! Is he Lord in that area of your life, the area that has been hurt, that doesn’t want to love the other person? If so you have the freedom to walk in that forgiveness right now!
“Now, the “Lord” I’m referring to is the Holy Spirit, and wherever he is Lord, there is freedom.” 2 Corinthians 3:17 TPT
When we are walking in unforiveness, anger, bitterness, etc. because of a sin that someone else has committed, that may have greatly affected our lives, we are letting their sin shape our life!
It’s THEIR sin, and while sin has huge consequences, we have the power inside of us to not let their sin change the trajectory of our life or diminish our quality of life or inhibit our calling, once again it’s their sin not ours! Why walk in less then what God created for our life because of someone else’s sin?!
So How Can You Practically Apply This?
1. Repent of your unforgiveness
This is the first step in being set free. If we have unforgiveness in our lives and don’t repent of that sin God says he won’t forgive us of our sin.
““ And when you pray, make sure you forgive the faults of others so that your Father in heaven will also forgive you. But if you withhold forgiveness from others, your Father withholds forgiveness from you.”” Matthew 6:14-15 TPT
This is also a dangerous place to be because we give a foothold to the devil in that area. This is what he wants, this is part of his plan, to come in into that area and help you justify your feelings, justify your unforgiveness, because he knows you won’t walk in the full calling God has for you when he can do this.
“But don’t let the passion of your emotions lead you to sin! Don’t let anger control you or be fuel for revenge, not for even a day. Don’t give the slanderous accuser, the Devil, an opportunity to manipulate you!” Ephesians 4:26-27 TPT
2. Realize you are already FREE
“”When you sin you are not free. You’ve become a slave in bondage to your sins. And slaves have no permanent standing in a family, like a son does, for a son is part of the family forever. So if the Son sets you free from the sin, then become a true son and be unquestionably free!” John 8:34-36
Your unforgivness is sin and if you are born again you are a true son, which means you are unquestionably free from that unforgivness!!
“Who the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed
I’m a child of God
Yes I am”

3. Write out truths and repeat them
What is truth found in the Bible about your situation?
“Jesus said to those Jews who believed in him, “When you continue to embrace all that I teach, you prove that you are my true followers. For if you embrace the truth, it will release true freedom into your lives.” John 8:31-32 TPT
4. Ask and you shall receive
Ask for the ability to forgive that person, and God will grant you that request.
“”Ask, and the gift is yours. Seek, and you’ll discover. Knock, and the door will be opened for you. For every persistent one will get what he asks for. Every persistent seeker will discover what he longs for. And everyone who knocks persistently will one day find an open door.” Matthew 7:7-8 TPT
5. Be in the word
Time with God is what will give you the strength to walk in forgiveness. Once again, unforgiveness is sin and you have been set free from sin.
“Yet God sent us his Son in human form to identify with human weakness. Clothed with humanity, God’s Son gave his body to be the sin-offering so that God could once and for all condemn the guilt and power of sin. So now every righteous requirement of the law can be fulfilled through the Anointed One living his life in us. And we are free to live, not according to our flesh, but by the dynamic power of the Holy Spirit!” Romans 8:1-4
6. Seek FREEDOM
Like the verse says above, freedom is yours, persistently seek and you will receive it, go after it until you are fully walking in it.
“But now, as God’s loving servants, you live in joyous freedom from the power of sin. So consider the benefits you now enjoy- you are brought deeper into the experience of true holiness that ends with eternal life! For sin’s meager wages is death, but God’s lavish gift is life eternal, found in your union with our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One.” Romans 6:22-23
We are human, which means many of us experience horrible things, and I’m not diminishing those things, it will take us time to walk through those trials because of our humanity. Those trials are where God will mold our hearts. It’s in the trials where fruit is produced. But how long we are in the trial is up to us!
Why walk in less then God has designed for your life? Don’t let another day go by without stepping into that full freedom. God has SO SO much more planned for you!
